Having invented a new system for optical RX Safety Glasses, The New Eye Company (NEC) was founded in July 2010 to develop, brand and market The IC Safety Eyewear System globally.
NEC is a division of NEC Optics that provides general optical services as well as importing and distributing the IC Safety Eyewear System and optical safety frames.
Our Safety eyewear system typically halves the cost of optical RX safety glasses that are used routinely by workers to protect their eyes from injuries, and to also make safety eyewear affordable for everyone. A major advantage of the system is that it virtually eliminates the need for replacement lenses.
In May 2011, Andy Mehringer, inventor and founder of NEC, went on to win the ABC Show’s “The New Inventors” award for 2011.
At the same time NEC commenced local distribution to corporate clients including Downer EDI Mining, Rio Tinto, QR National, Origin Energy and many other big-name Australian organizations in a growing client list including over 300 Australian corporate clients.
Following local Australian successes, NEC is expanding its operations into the USA, Europe, Canada and Russia in 2012.
Organization’s typically purchase a box of our Safety frames and arrange for prescription lenses to be made to meet the vision needs of their individual employees. On receipt of their scripted Astralon™ Foil inserts, employees choose a lens colour and insert their prescription foils into place. Should their safety frames or outer lenses become damaged or scratched, they simply remove the prescription Foil and insert it into a new pair of IC Safety frames.
With a life-time warranty, the Astralon™ Foil inserts accommodate single vision, bifocal or multi-focal lenses, and can be inserted into the entire range of IC Safety Eyewear System .
